ACT Engage measures soft skills and attitudes such as commitment to college. It provides test takers with details on areas to improve and strengths to play to their advantages. These results can help students gain focus to assist in the transition to college. This lets students know what areas they excel in so they can use their skills to their advantage. This can also help students identify weaknesses and improve on them. I excel at communication but I need to improve my goal striving. I found it interesting that I need to improve on goal striving because I feel that I have set solid goals for myself. The MCIS staff sat with me and discussed my goals. We discussed how projects such as MAG tested my soft skills and how I grew during those projects. We discussed what I can do everyday to help improve my engage scores. My first goal is general determination. I am going to update my planner weekly to schedule extra time to perfect projects. Using my planner to allow myself extra time will help me have extra time to edit my work before turning it in.

I selected this as a goal because I sometimes work right up to the deadline on assignments and turn in work that isn’t as polished as I would like it to be. My second goal is goal striving. I am going to regularly look at my college and career goals to keep my focus on my studies. I am going to regularly check my planner and use my Passion Planner to break down steps of my goals. I selected this as a goal because I tend to have lofty goals for myself and I can sometimes feel worn out. I chose to work on goal striving to make reaching my goals a more prominent part of my life.
